How this is calculated
- Companies
- Companies CompaniesMarketCap files under tech: chip, hardware and software makers and internet platforms such as Alphabet, Meta, Tencent and Alibaba, plus Amazon and Tesla. Netflix, SpaceX and Schneider Electric are left out. Card networks (Visa, Mastercard) and IT consultancies (Accenture, TCS) are not in that category. Companies that were delisted or bought out before 2026 are not covered. USA and Non-USA split companies by headquarters; Global combines both.
- Ranking
- The ten largest in each view by market cap in U.S. dollars on 31 December. The 2026 view uses market caps on 7 Oct 2026.
- Growth
- Revenue growth over the following year. Dots for 2016–2024 use reported revenue. Dots for 2025 and 2026 use the analyst consensus for the fiscal year ending nearest the end of the following year (for Nvidia's 2026 dot, the year to January 2028), so they will move as companies report.
- P/E
- Year-end market cap divided by the following year's net income. For 2025 and 2026 it is the share price at the end of 2025 or today, divided by forecast earnings per share for the same fiscal year as the growth figure. Analysts mostly forecast adjusted earnings, which leave out costs such as stock-based pay, so these P/Es run lower than ones based on reported profit. Companies that lost money that year have no P/E and are left off the chart.
- Gaps
- Where a forecast is missing, a dot falls back to the last 12 months of reported results. Hover over or tap a dot to see which figures it uses.
- Sources
- CompaniesMarketCap for market caps and reported results, where a year is the 12 months ending with the last quarter reported in that calendar year. Yahoo Finance for forecasts and share prices, read from each company's home listing so price and earnings are in the same currency. Data as of 7 Oct 2026.
